Beyond the Claims

This exhibit features interviews conducted by Wabanaki REACH that get at the heart of the land, its people, and their stories. By gathering personal oral histories across a full spectrum of experiences we hope to demystify the Maine Indian Claims Settlement Act of 1980, humanize those who have been affected by it, amplify their voices, and preserve their stories for cultural continuity. Photography by Wabanaki artists Nolan Altvater and Maya Attean.

Bar Harbor

This exhibit features voices from The First Coast archives, recorded in 2019, and from interviews conducted by Camden Hunt, Tiegan Paulson, and Katie Culp in 2022 and 2023. The audio was edited and produced by Camden Hunt and Galen Koch. Photographs by Greta Rybus.

Deer Isle – Stonington

This exhibit features voices of local Deer Isle and Stonington residents. Most of the interviews were recorded in 2018 by Galen Koch, except for several interviews pulled from the archives at the Deer Isle – Stonington Historical Society. The audio was produced and edited by Celia Morton and Annika Ross of College of the Atlantic with Senior Editor and Instructor Galen Koch.
